DDW 2025 collab: Humber College x Fontys ICT

Objectives and Description
During DDW 2025, the students from the Advanced semesters User Interaction will have a collaborative project with students from Humber College, Toronto, Canada. The collaboration is all about experiencing, learning and creating in the context of the Dutch Design Week. A week in which the internationally composed multidisciplinary groups will build several interactive immersive installations over the different days that will be exhibited to the public on Thursday 23 October.

Goal of the project
ICT students will have the opportunity to gain international experience and develop their professional skills. More specifically:

• international experience where they are introduced to different teaching methods, cultures and technological environments,
• collaborating in a multidisciplinary setting, dealing with assignment and task outside of your comfort zone and/or field of expertise,
• personal growth by living in a different environment which improves personal development, independence and adaptability as well as language skills, and lastly
• strengthening intercultural competences by interacting with students and teachers from different backgrounds which allows them to learn more about cultural competences and be better prepared for a globalised labour market.

Methods and outcomes

• There will be a hybrid week to prepare for the collaboration on location during the Dutch Design Week in the MS Teams environment.
• Students will work in project gorups of 6 students: 4 Fontys ICT + 2 Humber College students
• All students present their work on Thursday 23 October to the public with an exposition in the TQ4 Corridor (Achtseweg Zuid 157c, Eindhoven)
• The collaboration will be evaluated on Friday 24 October by  Dialogic Innovatie&Interactie, providing insights to Fontys ICT and Humber College for future collaboration
